Discussion about this has been spread through several threads (BBC News, ITV News, Guantanamo Bay).

I see that tonight's 10 o'clock news on BBC One is extended to 10.40

Watched some of this this afternoon, but wasn't awake to see it as it broke.

Sky News reported that the headline of the comment section of El Mundo read "Our September 11".

The only criticism I had this afternoon of News 24 and Sky News was that neither of them really showed how many explosions actually happened where:

I lived in Madrid last year and I used that railway line - I got on the same trains at the next stop north of Atocha (Recoletos).

I notice that Sky are using some pictures from Telemadrid, the regional channel in Madrid.

Almost a year ago I was in Spain watching Sky's coverage of the siege of Umm Qasr via Telemadrid...

Only an hour or two after the attacks, CNNi went back to other news and World Sport, despite the Sky EPG having that hour as "Breaking News" and them being the only major english-speaking network to have a correspondent at the scene at the time. After an hour they went back into rolling mode again.

It seems like Sky only have a clip of the Spanish PM's statement with their live bug on it, which they have to cover up whenever they replay it.

Noticed the British channels were having a bit of trouble keeping the more graphic pictures off air when they were putting out the 'latest pictures' this morning, with Sky News cutting back to the same video of people being treated in the leisure centre whenever they noticed anything gory appear on screen. British TV news is one of the most saintised in the world in my experience, but that's a whole other debate..

I was also thinking while watching the coverage earlier that it wasn't clear which station(s) those pictures were coming from.

Yes, Kay Burley apologised several times for the graphic nature of the pictures and said they were having to edit them as they came in.

In half an hour or so I'll have the opportunity to watch TVE; I'm wondering how they're covering it.

Spanish TV is notoriously unsqueamish about showing lots of blood and dead bodies.

Did they manage to blur out any channel identifier DOGs from the feed, like they usually do?

At the moment, with lots of studio interviews and, with memories of American TV after September 11, a Spanish flag permanently on screen with a black ribbon.

And, yes, there are the sorts of graphic pictures that wouldn't be shown over here.

No - you could see the bottom half of the Telemadrid DOG under the Sky News one.

Anyway, I think Telemadrid's pictures are originally from EFE, the national news agency.

Sky have got Jeremy Thompson presenting from Atocha now - quite impressive

Watchign that now, interviewing some man in Bilbao (which is in the Basque region IIRC) but haven't a clue what it's about.

Turned it on at 6 and there didn't seem to be any kind of headline sequence or anything to signify the start of a programme.

Watching ZDF from Germany too. They seem to be focusing more on the history of ETA, and the political angle of the story.
