Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but a trailer just on BBC2 advertising a new gameshow.

Crisis Command allows 3 contestants to run the country for the day, as ministers. It's presented by Gavin Hewitt from what appears to be a control HQ with big screens which had coverage (obviously fake) from the news organisations on.

There is a simulated major crisis and it is up to the contestants to run the country. I assume that the contestants will make decisions and the "news coverage" will reflect the relevant decisions they have to make. Looks interesting, and is certainly a bit different to the normal!

Ahh, Wow that sounds fantastic! Gavin Hewitt presenting? I like his style and I think this sort of programme will suit him well.

Are you joking? An intellectual game show on television? An interesting one at that? No, pinch me. It's a dream! When is it on? Two oclock on a Tuesday morning? Sorry about my sarcasm. Don't get shows I like very often anymore!

I saw this last night. Looks very interesting, it had footage from Sky, News 24 (The Old News 24, Booo!), and Peter Sissons in the National Studio.

It starts on Tuesday 3rd February at 9:00 - I'd assume there will be a series unless this is just a pilot? This is what Digiguide has to say about it:

GAME SHOW: Crisis Command: Could You Run the Country?
Channel: BBC 2 Midlands 02
Date: Tuesday 3rd February 2004
Time: 21:00 to 22:00 (starting in 9 days)
Duration: 1 hour.
Game show in which contestants get the chance to run their country during a major crisis, presented by Gavin Hewitt. Three people selected as ministers are confronted with a simulated crisis and it is their job to take the reins of government. They are helped by three experts, Air Marshall Sir Tim Garden, spin doctor Amanda Platell and intelligence officer Charles Shoebridge.

A gameshow in which my brand of megalomaniacal aspirations wouldn't be entirely (or even partially) suitable for..... mind you, we have someone of that ilk in power at the moment.....

I bet all the contestants are rubbish and take it all far too seriously. My strategy would be: screw the country, just get me to the bunker before it all goes off...

Probably why there has ever been one female prime minister, she did screw the country!

I think it'll probably be based on the excellent BBC Three one-off show "Being Prime Minister for a day" (or something like that) from a few months ago. Worked quite well I thought.

Yes and we are still paying the price of her legacy!! I hope this isnt just a one off, I am betting this show will catch on. Makes a great diversion from the usual gameshow tedium.

From the trailer, it looks liek they're doing some news channel clips like they did for The Day Britain Stopped.

In the trail the first is of Sky News, the second is Peter Sissons in the national studio, and the third is Sophie Raworth on the Daytime bulletin balcony, with old News 24 graphics.
