Bit of a technical problem joining the Countryfile weather forecast just now - seems they weren't quite ready! I think they may have even had to cut the forecast short a bit due to the fault.

Should be on BBC Iplayer later, I'll provide a link when it's available, unless someone managed to capture it?

I wonder if it will be 'as broadcast' or if they will just cut the weather out. What do they normally do with Countryfile on IPlayer?

I guess that makes sense if it was a forecast.

That holding slide could lead to a mis-understanding by some viewers.
Surely better to use a picture of some clouds, or perhaps a 'Teletubbies' sun face Smile

Countryfile is now on IPlayer. I haven't looked at it yet to see if the weather is included.

Edit: The breakdown is left in.

It starts at 00:47:20.

They should really use that as a perfect example of how to handle a breakdown in any future Red Bee Continuity training. I don't know if they had prior warning but the woman handled it very well, even given out www.bbc.co.uk/weather for people who wanted to know the weather.

As for the cause, notice how Rob McElwee's shirt is untucked? I would speculate that he was probably caught taking a dump when he should have been presenting.

Yep it's 'as broadcast' and it hasn't been cut out! Smile (47:30 mins)
EDIT: Link already posted above...

I suspect so - pres would have seen that unwanted graphic on the weather studio's output, and therefore had the holding slide ready to go. Remember that the holding slide isn't routinely used in breakdowns these days, it's usually a generic apology caption. I suspect it was simply finger trouble (or having to override the automation) which brought the weather studio's output to air temporarily.

Incidentally that mic in the con booth has a nasty hum on it.

Rob has missed a live forecast once before, forcing the announcer to take his place. On that occasion he thought he had time for a cigarette before the forecast.

In his defence, though, I might point out that the shirt wasn't completely untucked - and that the Countryfile weather presenter tends to be just a tad more casually dressed anyway...

You think he was just urinating then?
