New Channel 4 ident (daytime special?)

New ident on C4 just now, starting with an image of a TV showing "Countdown" and pulling back to showa guy laying on a settee watching it, and bits of settee swivelling round, presumably making a "4" at some point though I completely failed to make it out!

I saw this last night, I think.

I didn't spot the 4 forming either as I was looking at the detail in it.

The flat is grubby and strewn with empty beer cans, and a distinctly clear half smoked joint in an ashtray - I kid you not.

Certainly designed for a huge part of their target audience!

Sounds pretty unique in terms of the rest of the set, but I think the idea of starting with a shot of 'Countdown' on a TV is clever.

Is this the first 'indoor' ident?

It was just shown again there now. One of the clever ones having to interact with a person too in the centre of it.

It's got quite a spookily and eerily track to do with it!

I don't think it's anywhere near as strong as the rest of the set. Perhaps a few viewings and it'll grown on me, as usual, but this one just seems out of place. Almost as though it's an in-house addition.

Why oh why did it take me a few minutes before I could spot the '4' ! - Mind you, it was without the audio, which clues you in on when it forms up.

Maybe they could have had him watching one of the other Channel 4 idents on the telly -- or is that too ironic?

Out of interest, was the playout seen earlier today any longer?

I think it seems out of place because its quite short and quick, the 4 isn't very obvious, its more of a hint of the number 4 rather than a formation of the 4 logo, and usually the 4's are upright whereas this is on the slant.

I still like it though, but you need to pull yourself away from the detail to notice the 4. I think its a good addition to the rest, and I like the fact the idents just keep on coming.

I disagree. I think it's a nice addition to the set.

If it hasn't been mentioned yet; the Channel 4 website content can't be accessed, as it's currently being given a bit of a dusting down (essential maintenance).

So by my reckoning that's ident number 13 - so there should be two more to go then!


Not seen it on screen yet - I agree it seems strange considering all the others use pretty big locations!
