Looks like this is coming from a garishly re-lit Newsnight set, perhaps some of Working Lunch/Breakfast in there too although I could be wrong. Not a bad show although it does rather eat in N24's schedule. Uses the same graphics though.

Oh, and if anyone wants to know then the theme tune is Rock and Rolls Bar by Mint Royale from the album On The Ropes Very Happy

Is that the Breakfast sofa cunningly disguised via the wonder of cushions?

I was quite encouraged when I saw the original press release and indeed it looks good - John Inverdale can turn his hand to anything and nice to see Louise Minchin getting a project of her own.

It will normally start at 10am, not 9.30am (due to this morning's Trooping the Colour (exactly how many OBs *are* going on at the moment, BBC Resources apparently fully booked one weekend this/next month) - which is annoying because I missed the first half hour. That means however it will fit rather more logically into the news24 schedule from next week onwards (what did they do at the top of the hour?).

In The Know was totally awful! More dumbing down - so much for news, it was just sports, and not even well done sports - just loads of useless "celebraties" and some random people from some rap gang. Micheal Howard was the only respectable person on there and they didnt even talk to him about proper politics.

And if this wasnt enough, this tripe was simulcast on News 24 as well taking more out of its schedule. I suppose its now about a 19.5 hour - News Channel? Awful.

it was better than i though it would be. Perhaps a little longer news summary at 10.00 would have been better. It only lasted about 2 mins. Its a nice light way to start your saturday morning.

In the Know; really liked it as a show - just not sure how it fits into News 24. Used the same graphics? must have missed that bit! Saw a couple of 24 loops in a screen, but that was about it. What did impress me was the titles/content - very fresh/summer/dynamic, some nice 3-D. Very "In the Now!!" Anyone know how they were built ? One issue again though, perhaps not very News 24. Would have expected more brand colours if it needs to sit across two chanels. Inverdale was good as ever. Overall maybe a bit stop start...better next week I think

If it was a standalone show on BBC1 it would be ok, but so far I see two problems

- Why is a lighthearted sports magazine going out on BBC News 24
- Why do BBC1 Sports viewers want a 'BBC News 24' news summary during the programme?

Also in typical BBC style, the News 24 logo just had to be displayed during the news, why not just BBC News. At least the show's logo wasn't on screen all the time like the Election programme!

To me, it seemed a bit like ITV1's Speed Sunday, although of course covering all sports rather than just motor racing

I agree - i thought it would be really good - a nice ballance between news, sport and entertainment. But all it was, was a relaxing sports magazine, with a very brief news summary, at 9.30 and at 10. I thought it was meant to be fast paced? Wasn't though.

It could have worked. They could have had a good equal mix of news and sport (like i thought it would be).

As for the set, the Newsnight walls relit, the middle bit of the Breakfast sofa taken away, and the newsnight review coffee table with a different top. It made it look crap. And no clock.

Poor.

The graphics fit in with the News 24 look although don't form up in the same way (indeed just fade up), and the LIVE/location bug in the corner is the same as News 24's. And obviously they're completely different colours. All in all not a bad show, Colin Patterson's OB was very similar to the old Liquid News LIVEs!

As far as I know, it was always intended to be more of a sports programme than news. After all, Breakfast has already been on for three and a half hours - there's all the news you need. A quick summary in the middle of In The Know is sufficient.

It would be better if it wasn't carried by News 24 as well. I've never understood the logic behind this - if you can watch News 24, you can also watch BBC1 and BBC2. Why does it have to be on both channels? That way, BBC1 is catering for sports, while News 24 still operates its normal schedule of continuous news.
