I hope this means that ITV Weather will be getting new graphics and I hope they will have sorted out the black bar problem on the ITV News Channel as that is very annoying. Just a shame that they've moved 2 and a half months after London Tonight.

Hasn't the National Weather come from Leeds before? As Jon Mitchell was presenting the National and Yorkshire Weather on the same day apparently.

Not particulrly sure why this would make the weather worse. It sounds like it would be better in my opinion.

So YTV are doing the National Weather on Monday and Tuesday. I wonder if Jon Mitchell will do it both days, or whether they might let Jo Blythe go nationwide?

Does this mean it wont be in widescreen? And see a London Tonight tag of things! I hope that some weather bulletins come from the new ITV news set, and all ITV regions gets new graphics!

Leeds will also be doing Carlton weather? Does that include Carlton Central, Carlton Westcountry and HTV's weather bulletins that usually come from central or just London?

I doubt it'll be a bad thing.
Technically with them moving to ITN, it does mean that the bulletins could come from the ITV News set. Perhaps not on ITV1 bulletins, but on the news channel when weather are part of the programme, it could turn out to be effective (with them being recorded on the CSO for CSO News bulletins and from the CSO Live when in the London Studio).

replacing well known and much loved presenters that viewers in the midlands have watched for over a decade with new people in a neighbouring region ... not really a decision that was taken with the viewer in mind was it.

but then i have come to expect nothing less from itv. this, boys and girls, is what we call asset-stripping.

I thought I'd stepped into the TV Ark Forum for a moment then!

Leeds are only covering whilst ITV National Weather move house.

Its good in my opinion because it means Sian and co will be able to pop into the ITV NC studio more regularly. They are always good with the unprepared chat

There is no reason for it not to be widescreen - ITN have some widescreen switchable cameras (and you wouldn't need to switch a gallery to widescreen to do it - just the camera) ISTR that London Tonight used the same gallery for their 4:3 news and their 16:9 weather?

Aren't the Tonight with Trevor MacDonald links recorded in 16:9 at ITN (though it is a Granada production I think Sir Trev does the links at Grays Inn Road)

London Tonight (LNN) had a fully switchable widescreen gallery.
In fact, the only gallery I've ever worked in that could switch aspect ratio during a programme which it did for every weather playout.
So far ITN have only managed to playout the weather within their programmes in 14:9 so I'll reserve judgement yet to see how they improve the weather service.

No doubt ITN can provide widescreen weather, but what about YTV? AFAIK their weather studio has only ever provided 4:3.
